“Na prática a teoria é outra” ou separar é armadilha do capitalismo?

This article aims to clarify the understanding of the inseparability of theory and practice in the work marxian, in order to demonstrate that the relationship of opposition/contradiction or hegemony of one of those terms at the expense of another –commonly asserted within the Social Work – it is a fallacy. We seek to identify and reflect on the aspects that lead to false interpretations and apparent idea of separation between theory and practice and the possibilities of overcoming, indicating the need for appropriation of historical materialism and dialectical and its main constituent categories for this concern. We conclude that the theory and practice, although they have different characteristics, they are inseparable aspects and should be considered in its indissoluble unity, as whole, in a dialectical movement.O presente artigo tem como objetivo explicitar a compreensão da indissociabilidade teoria e prática na obra marxiana, no sentido de demonstrar que a relação de oposição/contradição ou de hegemonia de um desses termos em detrimento de outro – comumente afirmada no seio do Serviço Social – é uma falácia. Buscamos identificar e refletir sobre os aspectos que conduzem a falsas interpretações e aparente ideia de separação entre teoria e prática e as possibilidades de superação, indicando a necessidade de apropriação do materialismo histórico e dialético e de suas principais categorias constitutivas para tal apreensão. Concluímos que a teoria e a prática, embora possuam características diferenciadas, se constituem em aspectos inseparáveis e devem ser consideradas em sua unidade indissolúvel, como totalidade, num movimento dialético
